The Paper Chase Legal Writing Competition

Want a chance to win $5,000, $1,500 or $500?? Baylor Law and the Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) are co-sponsoring a legal writing competition, The Paper Chase. The competition features a challenging real-word writing problem adapted from actual case files. The competition packet will be available for pick up starting on October 8th, and the entries are due on October 25th. Please pick up the competition packet from Michele Thaetig in the 3rd floor faculty suite.

By October 31st, Texas Tech Law faculty will select three submissions to send on to the state competition. At the state level, submissions will be judged by members of TYLA. Winners will be announced on November 9th.

There will be three state-wide winners: 1st place ($5,000 cash prize and a trophy); 2nd place ($1,500 cash prize and a trophy); and 3rd place ($500 cash prize and a trophy).

Last year, two Texas Tech Law students received Honorable Mention in this challenging competition. Let's show them our stellar legal writing skills again this year and take the top prizes!
