Good afternoon,
My name is Jordan Raschke Elton, and I am an attorney at Greer, Herz & Adams, LLP in Galveston, Texas. I also serve as Vice-President
of the Galveston County Bar Foundation, as well as Chair of the Judge David Garner Scholarship Committee. I write to inform you
about the Galveston County Bar Foundation’s Judge David Garner Scholarship and invite your law students to apply.
The Judge David Garner Scholarship is created in honor and memory of Judge David Garner, a retired district court judge and a fixture in
the Galveston County legal community. Judge Garner served Galveston County at the Galveston County Criminal District Attorney’s Office
early in his legal career before transitioning to private practice. Judge Garner then honorably presided over the 10th Judicial District
Court of Galveston County, Texas for twenty (20) years until his retirement. Judge Garner was a role model and mentor to many, and he has
left behind an incredible legacy in the Galveston County legal community and beyond.
The Judge David Garner Scholarship is a tribute to Judge Garner’s Galveston County legacy and desire to mentor young attorneys.
I would like to invite your law students to apply for this scholarship award. To that end, I have attached an application for students that
decide to participate. All entries must be submitted on or before September 15, 2025, by 5:00 p.m., to the following
email address: jraschkeelton@greerherz.com
The Judge David Garner Scholarship recipient shall receive $5,000.00 towards their law school tuition and/or expenses.
The scholarship recipient will be invited to receive their award in person at an upcoming Galveston County Bar Association
Luncheon.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Jordan Raschke Elton
