Interoperability is essential in today’s digital world, especially with the rise of 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT). Much of this dinvolves major telecommunications companies, who hold standard-essential patents (SEPs). Because these patents are critical to using standardized technology, SEP owners commit to licensing them on Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory (FRAND) terms to prevent abuse. This presentation will explore the unique challenges of FRAND litigation, including recent and pending cases in Texas.
