FedSoc Speaker - Snowden: Understanding the Costs to American Security

The Federalist Society of Tech Law is proud to present Professor Robert F. Turner of the University of Virginia School of Law, to discuss "Snowden's Treachery: Understanding the Costs to American Security" at noon on Wednesday, October 5th in Room 107.

Professor Turner is the co-founder of the Center for National Security Law at the University of Virginia, and also served as the Charles H. Stockton Chair of International Law at the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island.

Turner served two Army tours in Vietnam before spending five years as national security adviser to Senator Robert P. Griffin, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

He has also served in the Pentagon as Special Assistant to the Undersecretary of Defense for Policy; in the White House as Counsel to the President’s Intelligence Oversight Board; at the State Department as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Legislative Affairs; and as the first President of the congressionally established United States Institute for Peace.

Professor Turner has authored or edited more than a dozen books and monographs, and contributed articles to most of the major U.S. newspapers and has testified before more than a dozen different congressional committees on issues of international or constitutional law and related topics.

Turner received a J.D. and an S.J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
