Looking for a paid summer position? Apply to be a Teaching Assistant for SEP

TEACHING ASSISTANT POSITIONS FOR

THE SUMMER ENTRY PROGRAM

JULY 9 – AUGUST 5, 2016

The Office of Academic Success Programs (OASP) is hiring Teaching Assistants for the Summer Entry Program (SEP) which is held here at the law school.  The Teaching Assistants will work closely with the 15 1L students who attend the program.

Introduction to Legal Studies is a 2-credit, elective course taken by all SEP students.  Dr. Jarmon will be the professor for the skills (legal reasoning, legal system, and legal writing) and academic success portions of the course.  Professor Cochran will be the professor for the doctrinal portion.  Dr. Tarenko will be the professor for the grammar and punctuation portion.

The Teaching Assistants work closely with Dr. Jarmon and Professor Cochran.  Attendance at SEP classes and workshops will be necessary.  Teaching Assistants will be responsible for small group sessions in both graded segments of the course.  In addition to their course responsibilities, Teaching Assistants will act as mentors to the SEP students.  Teaching Assistants will also be responsible for organizing several evening events.

It is preferred that the SEP Teaching Assistants work full-time during the SEP course.  However, students who are working part-time for law firms or who are enrolled in summer school will be considered during the interview process if their schedules allow them to meet the SEP obligations.  Although prior experience in the SEP course is preferred, it is not a requirement for the positions.

Each Teaching Assistant will receive a $1,200 stipend for the position.  A Teaching Assistant MUST be enrolled in Fall 2016 but does NOT have to be enrolled in summer school classes.

More details about the position and the requirements to apply are in the application packet.  Please read the packet carefully before you apply.  An electronic application was attached to an e-mail sent to 1L and 2L students.  Hard copy applications are available in the Administration Office at the reception counter.

Students who wish to apply must fill out the application form and return it with a resume attached to the back to the Administration Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 6th.

After application review, interviews with Dr. Jarmon will be scheduled for the semi-finalist candidates during May 9 – May 20.

If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Jarmon at amy.jarmon@ttu.edu.
