Tech Law Students –
The Professional Development Fund (PDF) has been established to provide funding assistance to law students who participate in professional activities that are not otherwise funded by the law school. The fund includes $25,000 per year and can be used for students involved in the following activities:
- Students interviewing for federal judicial clerkships or state-supreme court judicial clerkships, when the interview is more than 150 miles from campus.
- Students delivering papers or presentations at academic or professional conferences.
- Students on the planning committee for academic or professional conferences.
For the 2014-2015 fiscal year, the PDF Committee provided over $10,000 for more than 20 students!
Examples of funded activities include:
· Student travel assistance for the Federal Bar Association Annual Indian Law Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico
· Student travel assistance for the State Bar of Texas conferences in in Dallas, TX.
· Student travel assistance for the Multi-Jurisdictional Deal Litigation CLE in Dallas, TX
· Student travel assistance for regional externs in Dallas or Austin attending an academic event in Lubbock.
· And many more!
We want to encourage ALL students to consider applying for Professional Development Funds!
The PDF Committee considers applications three times per year. Application deadlines are: February 9 and May 24. The project or trip that is the subject of the application need not be limited to the semester in which the student applies, but must take place within the fiscal year (2015-2016). So, a student could apply by November 3, 2015 to deliver a presentation at a conference in April 2016.
