Self Defense 101: A Comprehensive Approach to Personal Safety
Learn to assess potentially dangerous situations, reduce and manage risk, and protect yourself. On Saturday, October 25, Susan Schorn, author of Smile at Strangers and Other Lessons in the Art of Living Fearlessly, and martial artist, will be at Tech Law to cover Self Defense 101: A Comprehensive Approach to Personal Safety. Schorn teaches an empowerment-based curriculum that explores the complexities of violence while also providing concrete skills for safety. We'll cover escalation and de-escalation, boundary setting, assertive communication, bystander intervention, and easy-to-use physical defense techniques. Ages 17 and up!

The class will take place Saturday, October 25, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. in the Texas Tech Law School Forum. All Texas Tech Law students, faculty and staff are eligible to attend, but space is limited and will be filled first-come, first served. There will be no charge for the class. Participants will be required to sign a release form.

There will be a waitlist for those who would like to bring an immediate family member ages 17 and up. Please RSVP to Corey Clem (corey.clem@ttu.edu) or 806-834-1348 by October 17, 2014.
