New $10,000 Scholarship Opportunity: Robin J. Copeland Scholarship
Announcing a new scholarship opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students across all colleges, including the law school.  This scholarship was established in remembrance of Robin J. Copeland, who dedicated her life to excellence in international diplomacy.  One scholarship will be awarded to a student who wishes to pursue a career in science and international diplomacy.  The first scholarship will be awarded to a student for the 2013-2014 academic year, and the award is $10,000.

Ms. Robin J. Copeland (1965-2011) had roots in West Texas and earned a distinguished career in international diplomacy, nonproliferation, and scientific engagement.  Her work with the U.S. Department of Energy, Department of State, the Civilian Research Development Foundation, and liaisons with U.S. Embassies worldwide was carried out under often difficult and demanding conditions.  Ms. Copeland's responsibilities required skills in political science, technical science, and engineering.  She was fluent in seven languages.

The Robin J. Copeland Scholarship will be awarded to Texas Tech University undergraduate, graduate, or law students who enroll in the following academic programs of study.  Preference is given in this order:

(1) Student majoring in political science or international law with an auxiliary emphasis in a supporting area of science or engineering, or

(2) Student majoring in science or engineering with auxiliary emphasis in political science or international law, or

(3) Student majoring in other combinations of study that demonstrates compelling evidence for application to science and international diplomacy.

Applicants for the Robin J. Copeland Scholarship should complete the scholarship application through the Student Financial Aid & Scholarships website (www.scholarships.ttu.edu).  Entering freshman should complete the Apply Texas Application and current undergraduate, graduate, and law students should complete the Current Student Scholarship Application.  Deadline for applications is February 1, 2013.
